Justice for Children and Youth (JFCY) is hosting its 5th annual fundraising benefit on Friday, November 25th. All proceeds from the event will help support invaluable programs such as Street Youth Legal Services (SYLS) and youth engagement.

Location: Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen Street West

Time: 7pm. Live auction starting at 8:00pm SHARP and will run for 45 minutes.

Our host for the evening is Arlene Bishop. For the first time, we are hosting a live auction, starting at 8:00 SHARP and running for 45 minutes. Arrive at 7pm so that you don’t miss anything! We welcome our auctioneer, Perry Tung, a Canadian and European art specialist from Bonhams. Following the live auction, we will have performances from comedian Elvira Kurt, and musical guests: Jen Schaffer and the Shiners, Steven Foster, and The Sneaky Castros. We are pleased to have two performers affiliated with SKETCH: ADDALLAH FRICKA and REYRAY.

We will also present the Street Youth Advocate Award to leaders in street youth advocacy that propel and support our work at JFCY. With years of crucial and innovative work in the field, we are happy to this year present the award to Bill O’Grady and Stephen Gaetz. Both are academics working in sociology and education, with attention to the experiences of homeless youth. Their most recent report on homeless youth — “Can I see your ID? The Policing of Youth Homelessness in Toronto,” explores the causes and consequences of the criminalization of homelessness.
